Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Systems Design Engineer to join our team in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will have a strong background in automation systems design, development, and implementation.

About the Role

As an Automation Systems Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation systems for oil and gas projects. This includes:

  • Participating in automation engineering projects from front-end engineering through detailed design, procurement, configuration, implementation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Engaging in all phases of automation projects, including PLC configuration, SCADA, HMI, SIS/FGS PLC programming and interfacing, architecture and networking, and specification development.
  • Attending and supporting site surveys, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT's), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT's) and commissioning activities for delivered systems.
  • Reviewing, commenting, and providing input on project schedules and cost estimates.
  • Supporting procurement with vendor lists development, requisition development, technical bid tabulations and clarifications, purchase recommendations, monitoring progress, and maintaining communications with vendors as required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Between 10 and 15 years' experience in automation.
  • Experience with an operating company, systems vendor, or engineering services provider for the onshore or offshore oil and gas and/or energy industry is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware, network architecture, integration, configuration and programming, industrial protocols, HMI Graphics and databases, and SCADA System configuration and installations.
  • Experience with PLC platforms (Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens or Triconex, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of the principles of relational databases, application interfaces, and Human Machine Interface design and implementation.
  • A strong background and direct experience with multiple systems platforms, operating systems and the interactions between systems, system hardware and architecture.
  • Proficient knowledge of P&IDs and instrumentation/control equipment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, MS Teams, etc.).
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills (in English and Spanish); must have a proficiency in English, and be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, clients, and vendors in person and remotely.

We offer a competitive salary of $125,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
