Urbanist – Senior

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Urbanist to join our team at Gensler. As an Urbanist, you will play a key role in developing innovative and creative urban design and planning concepts that support a breadth of project activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in design work for urban planning and urban design projects, from feasibility through to detailed planning stage.
• Work across a variety of sectors, including mixed-use, commercial, residential, hospitality, and education, as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
• Design places where people want to be, enrich our communities, and contribute to our clients' success.
• Illustrate and present design solutions effectively through freehand sketching and computer-aided design to convey the intended vision to our clients.
• Evaluate and take into consideration economic, social, regulatory, and physical factors affecting planning and design decisions for proposed projects.
• Liaise with clients, government agencies, and project stakeholders, requiring excellent communication and people management skills.
• Work closely with Directors and project teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality master planning projects within budget.
• Inspire and promote collaboration across disciplines to spark innovation, motivate talent, and support design experimentation.

Requirements

• College degree in Architecture required, postgraduate qualification in urbanism or similar preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Trained architect and experienced master planner with solid experience.
• Exceptional design talent and technical knowledge teamed with a passion for seeking innovative and creative design solutions.
• Thorough understanding of international planning standards and requirements.
• High level of verbal, written, and graphic communication skills, including freehand sketching.
• Proficiency in the use of digital design tools, including Rhino, Grasshopper, Sketch-up, VRay, and Adobe Suite.
• Good team spirit, strong sense of personal responsibility, and dedication to their work and the work of their team.
• Proactive approach to progress our design by seeking new ways to innovate, grow our business, and inspire the team.
