The Team

The Global Human Resources Technology team is tasked with the development, maintenance, and support of the Human Resources software platforms and applications at Scotiabank.

The Role

This position is designed to provide integration and technical assistance for the SAP Fieldglass application, adhering to established programming and testing standards along with Scotiabank's internal protocols.

This role is hands-on and necessitates a comprehensive understanding of detailed designs for proposed solutions and monitoring integrations. Expertise in Vendor Management Systems (VMS), Managed Service Provider (MSP), end-to-end Talent Procurement processes, invoicing, contract Life Cycle Management, and integrations with Global Payments is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate complex business needs; create technical specifications to design or modify software components, solutions, or applications related to current VMS applications.
  • Serve as a technical expert for modeling and effort analysis, utilizing industry best practices to design, test, implement, and support solutions.
  • Define and document the structure, integration points, and relationships of business processes, organizational work groups, data models, applications, and user interfaces.
  • Recognize how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should influence daily activities and decisions.
  • Actively seek effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring compliance with operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.

What You Will Bring to Succeed

  • The candidate will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the HR application systems they oversee.
  • Project timelines are often determined by the need for timely delivery of new products. It is crucial that changes are executed in a risk-based manner, completed within the designated timeframe and budget, ensuring sufficient functionality to validate the system's efficiency in production prior to promoting enhancements or configurations.
  • Engage in the analysis of business processes/requests and draft detailed system and reporting requirements or lead sessions to gather necessary information for writing these requirements. Requirements must provide adequate detail for development teams to proceed with technical design and development.
  • Lead and participate in the evaluation of user acceptance test strategies to ensure comprehensive testing aligned with business requirements and full documentation of the end-to-end process. Support user acceptance testing by analyzing problem logs to clarify business requirements, identify issues for resolution, and negotiate severity classifications with clients.
  • Ensure successful implementation for each assigned enhancement/project by contributing to system and user implementation strategies, providing post-implementation problem resolution, and transitioning application support to the appropriate team.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proficient in HR and related systems, such as SAP Fieldglass, with additional experience in Oracle products like PeopleSoft and Travel and Expenses; Coupa (SmartBuy) or similar procurement tools and Data Management tools.
  • Strong background in monitoring integration projects, ensuring solutions meet business requirements, resolving system issues, collaborating with analysts, identifying potential issues with new applications, and optimizing business processes.
  • Experience with Cloud services, particularly Software as a Service (SaaS); familiarity with Azure and Oracle Cloud is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of industry technology trends and best practices related to system interoperability.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud security, User Authentication, and Web-based Application Authentication.
  • Practical experience with API security patterns such as OAuth2 and SAML2.0.
  • Experience with ETL tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and knowledge of Web services: SOAP, REST API.

Education

  • Previous experience in the financial industry is preferred (2-3 years).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree in Business or Management Information Systems is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of functional systems experience.
  • SAP Certifications are highly desirable.
