About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Java / Kotlin Developer to join our engineering team at Ideaware Co. and contribute to an inspiring international project with a UK partner.

Our partner is a leader in the fare payment revolution, powering the journeys of millions worldwide. They build fare collection platforms that enable riders to seamlessly buy and present tickets for public transport using their mobile phones, ticket machines, or bank cards. Their platform is used in over 250 locations globally, including major cities. With their industry-first mobile ticketing SDK, they've partnered with prominent players in the transport space, such as Uber, Moovit, and Transit. They also host hack days to foster innovation and learning.

Key Responsibilities

As a Backend Developer, you will design and implement new features across multiple backend services central to the systems. Our partner teams are self-organizing, using agile methodologies like scrum, kanban, or hybrid approaches tailored to meet their goals effectively. Each team comprises specialists in development, testing, and sometimes hardware, working collaboratively to deliver excellent business outcomes for our customers.

This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse technologies and programming paradigms on complex and exciting challenges.

Qualifications
  • Strong core programming skills in Java or Kotlin, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and domains.
  • Experience in RESTful APIs, Git, Gradle, Maven, Artifactory, Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB, EC2, S3, SQS, Kinesis), Kafka, Spock/Groovy for testing, and cloud-hosted platforms with Infrastructure as Code tooling (Terraform).
  • Advanced English language skills, including clear and effective communication in written and spoken English.
  • A commitment to implementing high-quality software.
  • Ability to operate as part of a team that owns their software and advises on the best shape of a new feature.
  • Open to adopting well-supported ideas and solutions, demonstrating a productive approach toward governance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues and contribute effectively to team goals.
