About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Security Consultant Lead to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Wealth Engineering team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of sound security strategies and secure control processes to protect our information and data resources.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Champion a Customer-Focused Culture: Deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to drive business growth and success.
  2. Information Security Expertise: Provide guidance on secure and cost-effective implementation of Bank's security policies and standards, and assist in the classification and protection of data resources.
  3. Project Representation: Represent Information Security in projects, initiatives, mergers, and acquisitions, and work with business lines to develop sound security strategic and tactical plans.
  4. Risk Management: Drive initiatives and support business functions to assess security risks and make informed decisions to protect information assets.
  5. Compliance and Governance: Provide guidance to design, develop, and implement sound risk management controls in accordance with Bank's standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  6. Process Improvement: Pursue security and control process improvements to advance security compliance and improve internal processes.
  7. Collaboration and Communication: Participate in initiatives and projects driven by various business lines, and guide project and delivery managers to design and establish sound information security practices.
  8. Third-Party Risk Management: Lead due diligence reviews over third-party outsourcing partners to ensure their security posture aligns with the Bank and industry best practice.
  9. Subject Matter Expertise: Provide first-line subject matter expert advice on classification and protection of data through Bank's information security standards, policies, and processes.
  10. Reporting and Compliance: Generate reports associated with vulnerabilities reported by security tools, and monitor, follow up, and define specific actions to guarantee security compliance of the organization's assets.
  11. Operational Excellence: Execute tasks to keep security controls and indicators within optimal thresholds for decreasing the level of security risk in the Organization.
  12. Compliance and Risk Management: Work with business line partners to assess and ensure compliance to Bank standards, and escalate risk through appropriate channels.
  13. Operational Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  14. Business Conduct and Ethics: Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles.
  15. Teamwork and Inclusion: Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience: University degree in computer science or related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of cloud security controls, cloud computing concepts, and cloud architecture security, as well as knowledge of financial services' Security Governance Framework (policies and standards).
  • Language Skills: Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English (B2).
  • Certifications: Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CRISC, or alike are nice to have.
