About Acumen Latin America
Acumen Latin America was established in 2013 with a focus on Colombia and Peru. Our investment portfolio comprises 19 agribusiness companies that aim to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers primarily in Colombia.
The Role
This leadership position will work closely with Acumen leaders to define the strategic direction of Acumen Latin America, prioritizing Colombia. Key responsibilities include directing investments, measuring impact, and expanding the Fellows program to positively impact the lives of people living in poverty.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee investments, impact measurement, and the Fellows program to drive positive change for people living in poverty.
- Develop and implement Latin America's strategic direction, working collaboratively with Acumen leaders to determine how Acumen's philanthropic capital can be used effectively.
- Establish a path to financial sustainability for Acumen Latin America's portfolio, identifying and securing new funding sources to support investing.
- Lead the expansion of the portfolio, ensuring consistent investment standards and processes.
- Provide guidance to portfolio company CEOs on key business areas, such as governance, strategic finance, and social impact measurement.
- Monitor and report on social, financial, and operational metrics through the annual review process.
- Capture and share valuable insights and lessons from the companies, collaborating with the Impact and Marketing teams.
Becoming a Leader in Patient Capital
The Director will foster strategic relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance patient capital's growth in the region.
Key Requirements
- A post-graduate degree and an MBA.
- Substantial experience in strategy, operations, finance, and business development, preferably with a background in private equity or venture capital.
- Knowledge of the Colombian market and regulatory environment would be beneficial.
- Proven entrepreneurial skills, with the ability to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and mobilize resources.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the capacity to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
- Fundraising capabilities and willingness to secure funds.
- Experience in building, leading, and motivating high-performing teams, particularly in times of change or uncertainty.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish.
