About the Role: MSI is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief of Party to lead the technical and operational aspects of the Responsive Governance (RG) activity in Colombia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in governance, public financial management, and service delivery, as well as experience working with local partners and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and support to the Chief of Party in managerial oversight of the project to ensure the successful implementation of project activities and the timely reporting of those activities to USAID.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners, clients, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and provide technical leadership of the work of the technical project teams and ensure appropriate collaboration across all teams.
  • Lead or oversee efforts to conduct or collect state-of-the-art research relevant to RG and best practices development.
  • Demonstrate diplomacy and leadership to foster an atmosphere of teamwork, productivity, creativity, fairness, equity, and innovation, and support for diversity.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant subject area, such as international development, governance, public policy, and/or rule of law.
  • Seven years of relevant progressively responsible professional experience, including managing donor-funded projects of similar size and scope.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience and experience managing technical staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful implementation of international development activities focused on governance, accountability, public policy, municipal financial management, and/or service delivery.
  • Intimate understanding of the local context, Colombian government institutions/ministries, relevant civil society actors, local government municipalities, and intended beneficiaries.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish required.
