About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Global Petrochemical Specialist to join our team in the Global Analysis department, within Strategy & Market Analysis. This critical role serves as the corporate think tank on global issues, including scenario planning, short and long-term outlook, and third-party benchmarking.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing in-depth knowledge of the key interplay between feedstock & chemical markets and the petrochemical system. They will need to have a deep understanding of petrochemical systems, with familiarity with linear programming and chemical process unit modeling being advantageous.

In this position, they will be seen as the expert on petrochemical fundamentals and quantitative methods to provide insights and analysis throughout the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Petrochemical Forecasting: Develop long-term forecasts of petrochemical throughput, supply & demand, and prices.
  2. Scenario Planning: Create long-term forecasts and scenarios based on a solid petrochemical background, incorporating global policies and geopolitics, new technologies, investment climate, risk appetites, and changing consumer behavior and socioeconomics.
  3. Market Insight: Provide valuable insights on the evolution of the long-term global petrochemical market, supported by sound quantitative analysis and cross-regional and cross-market trends.
  4. Ad-hoc Requests: Assist Director and Division Heads with adhoc requests or special projects, responding to queries regarding specific petrochemicals-related topics with a focus on the long-term.
  5. Model Development: Guide, design, and improve existing models for understanding long-term petrochemical market dynamics.
  6. Model Validation: Challenge, validate, innovate, and improve models and tools to forecast the petrochemical sector (yield and technology shifts, petchem plant upgrades, bio-supply, cost of production, refinery integration, petchem margins, and profitability of investments, feedstock, and petchem product valuation, trade flows, etc.).
  7. Industry Representation: Represent Saudi Aramco at industry conferences and seminars, requiring travel one or two times a year.
  8. External Relationships: Build and maintain external relationships with external consultants to stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor degree in Business, Management, or Engineering field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum 15 years experience in the petrochemical industry, specifically in market analytics and research, with experience in petrochemical supply and trading being a plus.
  3. Petrochemical Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of petrochemical plant operations and optimization.
  4. Modeling Skills: Strong modeling capabilities and understanding of feedstock and petrochemical prices, trade flow dynamics, margins, and supply-demand balances.
  5. Excel Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Excel is a must.
  6. Linear Programming: Linear Programming experience, as well as process unit model development, design, and costing, is a plus.
  7. Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and on relatively unstructured tasks, working in a time-sensitive environment, and reacting quickly to requests.
  8. Mentorship: Ability to mentor and motivate junior staff members.
