About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team at Rackspace. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in helping our customers achieve their business goals through the effective use of cloud technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the technical liaison between customers and engineering resources, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Provide tactical scope and work directly with business representatives/customers to understand the requirements driving the need for a solution to be developed.
  • Communicate effectively with both business and technical colleagues throughout the course of the project, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
  • Ensure that all the appropriate questions are asked and verify that nothing crucial to the success of the project is overlooked.
  • Be a Cloud evangelist by educating a variety of customers on the value of cloud, helping them to transition to the cloud in a high-value migration approach that leverages best of breed designs and practices delivered in an agile model.
  • Work with customers to enable a DevOps culture and modernize operations and release strategies, establishing credibility and building impactful relationships with our customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.
  • Participate in deep Engineering discussions to build confidence and ensure customer success when building new, or migrating existing, applications, software, and services on the AWS Cloud Platform.
  • Conduct deep-dive "hands-on" education/training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers interested in AWS and to ensure our SAs are up to date.
  • Traveling up to 25% of the time (for occasional project kickoff and close events, but normally the position will be remote).
Requirements
  • Fluent, Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)
  • 2-3 years design & implementation experience with distributed applications.
  • 2-3 years of experience in networking, infrastructure, or database Engineering.
  • Strong, in-depth understanding and professional experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP Cloud services and infrastructure.
  • One or more AWS professional certifications preferred.
  • "Hands on" experience with tooling and services related to cloud Automation, IaC, and DevOps: Terraform, Git (one or more: GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket), CICD pipelines (one or more: GitHub actions, GitLab CICD, Bitbucket pipelines, Jenkins, ArgoCD, AWS DevOps), K8S/Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, AWS CLI/CloudFormation Templates.
  • "Hands on" experience with tooling and services related to Large Cloud Migrations for at least one of the following hyperscaler platforms:
  • AWS MGN, AWS DMS/SCT, AWS DRS.
  • Azure Migrate, Azure DB Migrate, Azure Site Recovery.
  • Google VM Migration/Velostrata, Google Container Migration/Anthos, Google DB Migration service.
  • "Hands on" experience with tooling and services related to Database deployments and admin: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.
  • Source code management: Git.
  • Artifacts management (one or more): Artifactory, Nexus, S3, Blob storage, etc.
  • CICD (one or more): GitHub actions, GitLab CICD, Bitbucket pipelines, Jenkins, ArgoCD, AWS DevOps.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a software development language and/or scripting (one or more): Scripting languages: python /Primary languages: Javascript/Typescript, nodejs, C#, Golang, C, etc.
  • Strong Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT management, and developers.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to right level conversations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
Desired
  • 3-5+ years of experience in customer-facing software/technology or consulting.
  • 3-3+ years of experience with "on-premises to cloud" migrations or IT transformations.
  • 3+ years of experience Engineering/operating solutions built on AWS (ideally) or AWS/AWS.
  • 1 or more AWS, Azure, or GCP Professional Cloud Engineer certifications.
