About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Scrum Master Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Agile team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a Customer-Centric Culture: Foster a culture that prioritizes customer satisfaction and deepens relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Coordinate and lead Agile ceremonies, including iteration planning, iteration review, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups, to ensure effective team collaboration and progress.
  • Team Facilitation and Coaching: Create a forum for discussing vision, goals, and Product Backlog items amongst the team, and provide coaching and guidance to ensure team members are equipped to deliver high-quality results.
  • Process Improvement and Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase team productivity and efficiency.
  • Issue and Risk Management: Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate issues and risks, ensuring timely removal of impediments and directing obstacles to appropriate owners for quick resolution.
  • Team Execution and Delivery: Ensure team execution and delivery to committed sprint work, maintaining momentum and upholding a sustainable pace of delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work with stakeholders to understand long-term product planning and roadmaps, and influence Product Owners to create quicker gains for the benefit of end-users.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with Scotiabank policies and procedures for project delivery, and maintain a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Partnership and Collaboration: Develop strong partnerships with Product Owners and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Agile Principles and Practices: Educate and support Product Owners on Agile principles and practices, ensuring the team is equipped to deliver high-quality results.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Understand how Scotiabank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of IT experience.
  • 5+ years of Scrum Master experience in a recent project/initiative within a true Agile environment.
  • Experience coordinating and/or leading large cross-functional/cross-regional teams on major organizational projects.
  • Prior Project Management experience is a plus.
  • Individual may have Scrum Master Certification (CSM) or another Scrum Master certification.
  • KMP I (Kanban Systems Design) certification – Nice to have.
  • Safe, Certification – Nice to have.
