Job Description

The Intern, International Accounting position at American Airlines offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting responsibilities within the Accounting Office. This role will support the accounting activities among cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with internal controls, process, and procedure, as well as local country regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide day-to-day oversight of Disbursements and Banking activities
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and associated journal entries
  • Support various tax/statistical filings
  • Presentation of results and follow-through to completion for all initiatives
  • Processing invoices on time
  • Familiarity with accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist and/or complete miscellaneous ad-hoc projects as assigned
General Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and respect of confidentiality at all times, adhering to the Company's Confidentiality Policy
  • Active participation in regular coaching & counselling meetings, performance reviews, and development meetings
  • Undertaking appropriate training as agreed with their manager, taking responsibility for self-development
  • Undertaking any other duties consistent with the position, this job description serving as a guide to main responsibilities
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • University student currently pursuing an Accounting degree
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
  • Demonstrated excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to deal with confidential subject matter
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required
  • Good team player
