Objective

The Team

The Threat Monitoring & Response (TMR) team at Scotiabank plays a crucial role in identifying, observing, and analyzing potential threats. Our team oversees essential programs that influence all sectors within the Cybersecurity Operations (CSOps) division and the Information Security & Controls (IS&C) framework.

The Role:

Under the guidance of the Senior Manager of the Monitoring and Triage team, the Team Lead is tasked with supervising a group of cybersecurity analysts, evaluating, and consistently enhancing their analytical and technical competencies. This role involves navigating the complex Technical/Business oriented cyber landscape within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a customer-centric culture to strengthen client relationships and utilize broader Bank resources, systems, and expertise.
  • Excel in a dynamic environment managing multiple issues and threats that may arise concurrently.
  • Provide leadership with a strong commitment to developing and training security analysts, investigators, and responders to strengthen the bank's defenses.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats that could affect both the organization and its clientele.
  • Engage in problem-solving, collaborating across the organization to address intricate technology and data challenges.
  • Communicate effectively, providing clear and accurate updates on issues, challenges, and projects.
  • Lead complex initiatives, offering security guidance to ensure information security risks are effectively mitigated.
  • Develop solutions across various security domains (Security Management, Security Engineering, Identity and Access Management, etc.).
  • Participate in diverse projects ranging from large-scale complex initiatives to simpler tasks.
  • Collaborate with various business units, IT support functions, and IS&C Control teams.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should be integrated into daily operations and decision-making.
  • Actively pursue efficient operations within respective areas, adhering to Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring compliance with operational, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.
  • Foster a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

Qualifications / Experience / Additional Information

  • Proficient communication skills (verbal/written/presentation) in English; proficiency in Spanish is a significant advantage.
  • A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in threat management and industry practices.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with security controls and mechanisms.
  • Experience with industry-standard productivity tools for generating quantitative/qualitative reports, data flow diagrams, and visual presentations.
  • Established and implemented a TTP framework methodology for content development based on patterns and behaviors.
  • Developed custom reporting for tracking mitigation status against threats.
  • Experience in red team operations (Vulnerability Assessments, Web application assessments), consulting (Compliance, policy development), SOC, and Device Management.
  • Created a security program to defend against Advanced Persistent Threats (APT).
  • Experience in sizing, deploying, maintaining, and securing SIEM and NGFW solutions.
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or CRISC are advantageous.
