The role: This role is ideally based in Barbados, or we would consider qualified candidates who are based in Latin America / Caribbean or Florida who would be willing to travel when necessary.
The Datacentre TPM is responsible for designing and constructing our customer's Data Centre to meet their demands.
The position requires a blend of technical expertise and program management skills to lead a complex, multi-disciplinary project from inception to completion.
The type of work you will be doing: Datacentre Strategy: Creating and implementing the new datacentre strategy, including design, budget, implementation, testing, and deployment, including all the dependencies needed to deliver the new data centre infrastructure management.
Project Planning & Management: Ownership of the implementation of the data centre, including ownership of the total project scope and the success of the overall project.
Work with stakeholders to define the project scope, goals, milestones, deliverables, and success criteria.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, budgets, resource allocation, and risks.
Provide project management for specific initiatives aimed at ensuring the resiliency of the datacentre.
Data Centre: Technical Planning and owning the installation and commissioning of all Datacentre Equipment.
Provide technical guidance and support to the project team.
Ensure that technical solutions are aligned with project objectives and organisational standards.
Leverage technical acumen in mechanical/electrical systems, structures, and networking infrastructure to facilitate engineering problem solving.
Electrical design associated with the optimization of the data centre.
Creation of a commissioning plan and oversight of the execution.
Construction/project package drawing review.
Drive project team to perform troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis associated with equipment or electrical failures.
Team Leadership & Coordination: Lead & coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Drive business results through clear goals, milestones, and performance indicators, promoting clarity and motivation to the project team to execute on time, in budget, while delivering high-quality results.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members and/or third-party contractors and monitor their progress.
Facilitate technical sessions to troubleshoot issues and remove any barriers that influence project success.
Support the hiring and onboarding of data centre staff.
Stakeholder Communication: Partnering with customers, partners, and suppliers to understand goals and priorities, and delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced and agile environment.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and develop strategies for data centre capacity delivery.
Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders to provide updates on project status, risks, and issues.
Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure deliverables and success criteria requirements are documented and met.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
Monitor and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that all project deliverables meet the required quality standards.
Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with project success criteria.
Budget and Resource Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring that expenditure is within approved limits and commitments are in accordance with published procurement policies.
Allocate resources effectively to optimise project outcomes.
Provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, task details, risks, and financial records.
Record and report key metrics to the project team and cross-functional colleagues.
Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and customers.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to driving process and quality improvements in technical project management.
Investigate and implement methods to optimize resources and speed up delivery.
Operational support including review of procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.
Oversee the project completion process including the documentation of lessons learned from each project to support this process.
What you will need: Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, a technical field, or equivalent practical experience is essential.
Project managing construction design and delivery programs for Cloud Data centers, working with diverse stakeholders to implement cost-effective solutions for capacity needs.
Data Centre project delivery, especially delivery of power and cooling infrastructure.
Delivering technical cloud-based projects for commercial and government customers.
Extensive experience in delivery of technical infrastructure, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.
Successfully delivering projects through building cross-functional matrix-based teams, establishing trust with a variety of stakeholders across multiple time zones.
Managing capital budgets, eliminating unnecessary activity, removing blockers, and finding creative ways to accelerate project delivery, building sustainable processes and coordinating project schedules.
Reviewing technical problems and providing clear options and recommendations in order to lead teams to decisions and delivery.
Conducting in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis and presenting information to key stakeholders.
Comfortable working through ambiguity, bringing clarity and control in a growing and dynamic environment.
Additional Information: This is a hybrid role, based in Barbados, or a willingness to travel to Barbados for business trips as required for the project.
