By working closely with project owners and developers as well as their local communities, we manage the complete registration, verification and evaluation of carbon projects to enable the issuance of emission-reduction certificates, in line with official carbon standards. **Job summary**:
As a Regional Manager, Climate Projects - Latam, you will be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the carbon and biodiversity projects’ portfolio performance in the region, providing timely and pertinent reporting, diagnosis, and recommendations with improvement measures to ensure the cost-efficient and high-quality performance of the region’s portfolio. Reporting directly to the Regional Senior Manager, Climate Projects - Latam.

South Pole’s Latam portfolio is comprised of >70 projects within a broad range of technologies and partners, that are in various stages of analysis, negotiation, development, or implementation through their crediting periods, most of them aimed at the generation of carbon credits and some of them for plastic reduction units or biodiversity credits. Key monitoring areas include financial, technical, and commercial, as well as in terms of stakeholder engagement.

Portfolio performance is defined in terms of the efficiency of our commercial and technical efforts to identify high-quality opportunities, properly assess their feasibility and technical viability, define commercial terms and close deals with potential new partners, generate the carbon asset, and secure the best quality of the credits issued to the market. Supported by South Pole’s internal data management systems and information tools, and in close cooperation with other regional and global teams, you will define the monitoring and reporting system for data-driven decision-making and performance assurance year-round.

Additionally, will have qualities related to people and time management, supervision, leadership, high-level decision-making, and support in complex projects.

**Main tasks & responsibilities**:

- Be responsible for the Latam project’s portfolio performance monitoring and reporting system, providing robust and timely portfolio status indicators, diagnosis, and actionable recommendations to ensure cost-effective and efficient portfolio management in the region
- Understand and become knowledgeable of South Pole’s project cycle from sourcing through sales and develop and deliver on key performance indicators/metrics that can evaluate the financial, technical, and management performance of the regional portfolio
- Establish monthly, quarterly, and other periodic meetings as necessary for the senior management of the Climate Project’s regional team to communicate portfolio status, and performance indicators, present new findings, and proposed solutions, and offer recommendations for enhancing the overall project cycle management
- Define a tracking system and ensure its implementation on actions agreed upon within the team and with the senior management to overcome issues affecting the portfolio performance, and that will support the delivery of South Pole’s regional business targets, both in terms of quality and financial performance
- Formulate and implement methodologies to collate, aggregate, analyze and present data to evaluate project-level performance and its effects at the portfolio level
- Provide timely reports and presentations to the regional teams and create effective ways to ensure the troubleshooting of key issues identified
- Support the climate projects’ regional leadership in establishing links and frameworks for relating individual performance evaluations to portfolio KPIs
- Review and propose improvements in internal procedures related to the integral management of the portfolio and relationship with project partners
- Actively participate in internal and external gatherings, meetings, and different networking spaces (seminars, congresses, etc.) that will contribute to developing and strengthening the responsibilities inherent to this position
