Vdi Engineer

**Role**: Lead VDI Engineer in End User Computing team

**Type and Location**:Hybrid role - Meddelin, Colombia

This role will be responsible for the Build, Operation & Automation of the end user computing services. VMware Engineer relates strong experience with VMware Horizon View Technology to implement and administrate a large-scale VDI deployment using non-persistent (floating pools) of desktops in a proven environment. The position is primarily responsible for providing maintenance, support, and enhancement for user's enterprise desktop environment. The responsibilities include defining the Windows desktop image standards, managing the VDI/VMware environment, deployment methods, and use of supporting tools and technologies.

**Education**: Bachelor’s degree or Certificate in VMware Technologies.

IT Experience 7+ Years Certification VCP Desktop Management. Hands-on Exp. Horizon View 7, ESX, vCenter, Instant Clones, UAG, App Volumes, Connection Servers, RDSH Farm, Desktop Pools & UCS.

**TECHNICAL SKILLS**:

- Hands on experience of building & administrating Horizon View architecture, Instant Clones & App Volumes.
- Hands on experience of building & administrating VMware vCenter, ESX & UAG Servers.
- Build and Operate the Horizon Enterprise, and Horizon Cloud Stack which include managing the App volume, and DEM products and integrating with Horizon Stacks in the cloud and onprem.
- Create and Build Application packages using ThinApp & Appvolume.
- Experience developing, optimizing, and hardening desktop operating system master images, gold-disks, or templates.
- Prior experience delivering VDI to Thin Client or Zero Client devices.
- Understanding of the user logon process in VDI and Windows experience with configuration and management of user profiles in a hosted Shared and non-persistent VDI environment.
- Experience configuring Microsoft Group Policy in a VDI environment.

Knowledge of critical protocols i.e. Blast Extreme, USB Redirection, HTML access, PCOIP, SOAP, MMR/CDR, JMS, HTTPS.
- Knowledge of CISCO USC & Fiber interconnects.
- Experience with Application Delivery Controller (ADC) and Global and Server Load Balancing in support of VDI environments.
- Experience in Windows desktop images standards, deployment methods and use of supporting tools and technologies.
- Understanding of DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Management in support of VDI environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of backup, recovery, and replication technologies for virtualized environments.
- Strong troubleshooting experience of Horizon view architectures, UAG, UCS, App Volumes & Tier three client & server architectures.

**DISCRETION/LATITUDE/DECISION-MAKING**

Decisions normally have a noticeable effect department-wide and company-wide, and judgment errors can typically require one to two weeks to correct or reverse. We have change management process which needs to be followed before any change can be made in the environment. COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS

- Regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. May resolve problems within established practices.

- Responsibilities requires working in shifts to cover multiple time zones.
- No regular travel requires.

Pay: $101,000 - $131,000 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Medellín, Antioquia: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
