**What you will be doing**
**Job Summary**
Assist in setting and accomplishing group goals in the development of procurement plans for construction and operations purchases. Identify, organize, and manage highly complex and visible construction equipment procurement, which has critical financial impact on the corporation. This position requires strong critical thinking and highly cultivated interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and work effectively with global and regional teams, cross functional groups, and suppliers. Develop procurement plans for construction and operations purchases. Identify, organize, and manage construction equipment procurement working with global and regional teams, cross functional groups and suppliers. Responsibilities include a heavy emphasis on supporting the purchases for Equinix’s data centers and ensuring the execution of sound sourcing and supplier management discipline. Assess supply base and spend, and collaborate with multiple business units to drive cost savings and improve operational efficiencies.
**Responsibilities**
Procurement
- Supports more senior level staff in all facets of supply management activities between Equinix and its suppliers. Performs contract lifecycle management - writes and negotiates commodity contracts. Issues and manages the Request for Proposal process, including negotiations of legal terms and conditions. Makes recommendations for Contract awards after working with engineering to ensure pricing among bidders is fairly evaluated
Project Management
- Project manages and coordinates with multiple business units and the vendor to ensure all technical vetting is complete, the equipment is manufactured according to Equinix specifications, and the equipment arrives to the IBX on time
- Tracks own project deliverables including contract awards, submittals, equipment deliveries etc., within established time constraints
Purchasing
- Manages the purchasing process of standard and visible mechanical and electrical infrastructure equipment purchases including quote verification, award and administration of purchase orders, distribution of records and reports, and the closeout of procurement activities at the conclusion of the project (including back charges, claims, etc.)
- Works with vendor and engineering to ensure that the right options are ordered for each piece of equipment ordered. Ensures that costing matches the engineering design requirements
- May raise and/or manage purchase orders
Vendor Management
- Creates and maintains long-term partnerships with suppliers and manufacturers to foster two-way feedback
- Actively monitors supplier performance and supports the optimization of supplier performance, including continuous improvement in quality, service, and delivery, integrating innovations, obsolescence and reduction in total cost of ownership
- Exercises judgment in knowing when and how to escalate service, support, pricing issues with vendors to the next level
Budgets & Negotiations
- Uses business acumen of IBX operations to negotiate contracts effectively by considering cost savings and risk mitigation
- Analyzes complex purchasing data to identify and recommend cost savings
Planning
- Accomplishes group goals, including supporting the development of procurement strategies
**What you should have**
- 5 + years related work experience and success in cost savings
- 3 + years project management experience
