- Full-time/Exempt**PRIMARY PURPOSE**:
The Associate Executive Director supports the organizational strategic priorities of advancing

holistic health for individuals and the community, helping youth reach and maintain their fullest potential, and elevating our Y brand while articulating our impact. This position is responsible for day-to-day leadership and operations of the branch including staff supervision, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development and quality control, board and committee development, community relations, collaborations, fundraising, and facility upkeep. The Associate Executive Director also provides direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the Board. This position works in conjunction with and directly reports to the Executive Director/VP.

**Essential Function**:

- Advance Y work in Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility (including Volunteerism and Philanthropy).
- Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers through use of Leadership Competency Model resources and in accordance with association policies and procedures.
- Incorporate Living Our Cause and Achievement-Relationships-Belonging into work products and behavior.
- Articulate impact measures and storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and financial development efforts.
- Direct and administer total operation of the branch including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation.
- Prepare annual budget for branch. Recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary controls to ensure operations that are consistent with the goal of a balanced operational budget.
- Plan and conduct a wide variety of programs and activities that maximize the facilities available, support the strategic plan, and enhance member services and programs.
- Coordinate the development of the branch board and committees in conjunction with the Executive Director/VP. Direct the volunteer activities of the branch. Provide opportunities for greater involvement in the YMCA by enlisting, training, and recognizing volunteers.
- Organize and maintain relationships with members and participant groups.
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community, and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develop, maintain, and model collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Serve as a member of Y management team, and support the overall objectives of the Y.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and behavior consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the YMCA.
- Wears required nametag and maintains professionalism in appearance and mannerisms.
- Provides leadership in association efforts, including leadership to work groups and trainings,
- particularly for Aquatics.
- Organize and conduct Annual Campaign efforts in close harmony with Executive Director/VP, staff, and volunteers.
- Interpret and communicate the objectives and programs of the YMCA through public communication and active participation in community organizations.
- Communicate YMCA mission and services, and promote awareness of YMCA activities and events to the community.
- Promote and monitor membership growth, taking a leadership role in member acquisition, engagement, cultivation, and retention.
- Performs all other duties as assigned to fulfill the organization’s business needs.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Training**:

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- CPR/AED and First Aid required.
- TB required.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
- Child Abuse Prevention training (Praesidium) prior to the start of first shift.

**Experience**:

- 10 years minimum experience in a leadership position, preferably with the YMCA organization or other nonprofit agency.
- Must have ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, leadership of employee teams, fundraising, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, member acquisition/engagement/retention, and program development.
- Must have experience in working with, training, and developing staff and volunteers and a proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others while building high performing teams.
- Strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills are required.
