**Job description**

Still I Rise, an international NGO, works towards development and the realization of humanitarian projects aiming at providing education and support to refugee children and youth, is looking for a open-minded, thoughtful and creative **Science Teacher** to join Still I Rise team to lead the roll-out of an innovative, childhood educational program in Bogotà, Colombia, the first Still I Rise international School in Latin America.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Review and monitor the progress of all students and identify their individual learning needs. Differentiate instruction to meet those needs of the students, providing extra support to those students who are below grade level.
- Sensitively and appropriately provide pastoral care to our students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Handle urgent situations with consummate professionalism and in accordance with our Discipline Policy and Safeguarding Policy, utilizing the school’s support network as necessary.
- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments, recording and reporting grades and performance.
- Attend and participate in regular professional development activities.
- Help our school excel with your participation and leadership in community engagement, competitions, school trips and other activities.
- Contribute to the development and leadership of our extracurricular programmes.
- Under the supervision of the Education Officer, provide feedback on quality and wellbeing to ensure programmes are designed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated to maximize positive impact on vulnerable children.

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS**
- C1-C2 English proficiency both verbal and written
- Demonstrate the values of ambition, bravery, care and open-mindedness.
- Academic or Professional Certificates;
- Completion of CRB/Background check;
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or related field or equivalent training and experience;
- At least two years of teaching experience;
- Competent ICT skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
- Ability to mentor students on a daily basis;
- Resilience in a challenging and changing environment;
- The curiosity and willingness to develop and practice modern teaching techniques;
- Determined team player.

**DESIRED SKILLS**:

- Experience teaching low-achieving students
- Experience working with refugee and vulnerable populations
- Experience in Child Safeguarding and Protection
- Knowledge and familiarity with the International Baccalaureate system is an advantage
- Facilitative leader
- Believes in commitment, integrity, and accountability
- Versatility and adaptability to a changing environment and be able to handle multiple priorities
- Self-starter with ability to provide creative solutions
- Certification of SPHERE humanitarian standards will be an additional asset
- Competency in negotiation
- Highly desirable to possess a strong understanding of foundational Sciences instruction
