Responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis. Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may influence work.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Controller for CALA region, legal entity presence in Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Puerto Rico and Panama;
- Provides technical support to the finance and operations community, assists the sales and commercial teams with contractual support, drives accounting compliance with the operations teams;
- Support new commercial model and anticipate technical discussions and accounting impacts;
- Prepare balance sheet reviews in a detailed level that can drive issues identification and action plan definition with regional CFO and global Controller;
- Partner with GE internal audit staff and external auditors (Deloitte). Drive closure of open audit issues and proactively work to prevent future issues / risk management
- Develops mid-term vision for own function; and
- Contribute to the strategic plan of the standalone business. Leads regional teams working on strategic initiatives.
**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar from an accredited university or college;
- Minimum of 5 additional years of Finance experience and leadership position;
- Good understanding of clients, industry, function and commercial markets;
- Strong leadership skills: able to leader a high-performance team;
- Influence other finance, operations and commercial teams;
- Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change;
- Clear thinking / problem solving: able to partner in cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations/finance function; able to grasp new ideas quickly;
- Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels, functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing;
- Confidence / Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions;
- Confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend position, for instance, work closely with business leaders to achieve business objectives while driving controllership/GE;
- Experience working in global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows; and
- Fluent in Spanish and English. Portuguese is a plus
**Desired Characteristics**
- CPA or equivalent designation; and
- Internal or external audit experience.
