Drives heavyweight truck to designated station, delivering loads. Loads or unloads aircraft, containers or company vehicles. Pre-inspects the loader, un-loader, tug and tractor-trailer. Maintains daily log in conformance with local laws. Assists in the sort and load operation as required. Ensures related ramp functions are performed in accordance with established FedEx policies and procedures. Conforms to airport regulations established by local airport authorities Ensures dangerous goods are loaded securely, matched with proper paperwork, and paperwork is maintained according to local regulations. Ensures placards on exterior of vehicle properly identify vehicle contents according to safety regulations. Scans packages according to prescribed procedures, in accordance with established procedures. Separates packages by service type and destination, in accordance with established procedures. Completes necessary documents and reports. Performs shuttle and ramp duties, which include the handling of Dangerous Goods Shipments; and thorough, accurate completion of Dangerous Goods paperwork, including notification of customer if Dangerous Goods packaging or paperwork are not in compliance with requirements. Observe all safety requirements required on the ramp, in the station, in and around the aircraft, and operating company vehicle.
High school diploma/equivalent. Six months FedEx experience required. Must have the appropriate license to operate a heavyweight vehicle. Must have Dangerous Goods Specialist certificate. Ability to operate mechanized loading/GSE. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. Customer contact/package handing experience preferred. Good human relations and verbal communications skills. Neat appearance since customer contact is involved. Safety sensitive position.
