- Part-time/seasonal (June 13th thru July 14th, 2023)/Non-Exempt**GENERAL FUNCTION**:
Under the supervision of a Youth Department Program Director or Assistant
Program Director, this position is primarily concerned with managing and
fostering positive learning environments through rich and engaging prewritten academic lessons/activities throughout a 5-week (June 13th-July
14th) Power Scholars Academy program. This position will be in-person at
the Nu’uanu YMCA and/or Ke’elikōlani Middle School.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Skills/Knowledge**:

- Ability to execute pre-written curricular activities around Math and/or ELA for students entering grade 6; ability to scaffold and teach children of various levels, required.
- Strong understanding of youth work, working with middle school-aged students, group management, and group work.
- Ability to differentiate teaching styles to students of various academic abilities, required.
- Flexibility in teaching strategies and methods, including effectively executing differentiated instruction in a classroom setting.
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written) across constituencie (youth and adults).
- Demonstrate an understanding and practice of serving culturally diverse populations.
- Must be people oriented.

**Education/Training**:

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A bachelor’s degree in education (K-6), or teaching certificate equivalent, required.
