Lead Data Engineer

If you are interested in designing solutions, troubleshooting technical challenges, and mentoring a team, we have a spot for you We are currently looking for a lead data engineer to take their team to the next level.
**This position will require fluency in the English language at a level of B2 or above**
**What you do at Avant**:
- Work with SMEs to translate business requirements into technical specs
- Develop and manage scalable and resilient data pipelines through their entire lifecycle - from design through monitoring and maintenance
- Partner with the platform team to design or implement new standards for increasing quality and efficiency within the team
- Draft stories/tasks for the team
- Review PRs created by the team
- Collaborate with product management to prioritize work
- Mentor teammates
- Address escalated incidents with data pipelines
**Why you are a fit at Avant**:
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Familiar with cloud infrastructure, AWS preferred
- Hands-on experience with:
- Redshift, or similar
- Apache Spark with python
- Apache Airflow
- git
- Expertise in batch processing required, stream processing preferred
- History of troubleshooting difficult technical issues using a deep understanding of the tools you work with
- Able to performance tune Spark jobs
- Experience with test automation for data pipelines
- Very comfortable with SQL
