**Key Purpose of the Role**:
This role entails advising and providing support on LATAM telecommunications regulatory and commercial legal matters though the role holder will work primarily on regulatory matters and report to the Senior Regulatory Lawyer-Americas based in Mexico City or Bogota.

**Special Requirements**
- A law degree is a requirement as is bar admission in Mexico or Colombia with** 2+ years** of post-admission experience.
- **Excellent **oral and written communications skills are required in **English** and Spanish. Proficiency in Portuguese would be an advantage.

**Activities**

Sixty to seventy percent of the new hire’s time should be spent on regulatory matters. The role holder would undertake, amongst other responsibilities, the following:

- Advise clearly and concisely about information to be provided to regulators, why the information needs to be provided and the impacts for BT if it fails to do so. BT has a portfolio of telecoms licenses in Latin America which are maintained in part by filing hundreds of reports with telecoms regulators annually providing information about BT’s activities in each country and paying relevant fees to regulators. The lawyer in this role must learn from the Senior Regulatory Lawyer-Americas in Mexico City and become expert on the laws and regulations that underpin telecoms regulatory compliance filings.
- Train the support team in India, who are English-speaking only, or any other support teams identified by the business, to provide efficient support for telecoms regulatory compliance filings including by (i) translating forms to be filed; (ii) explaining the legal requirements; (iii) monitoring changes in regulations; (iv) providing deadlines for filings; and (v) transferring to support team as many repeatable, non-legal tasks as possible that relate to compliance filings.
- Ensure all telecoms regulatory compliance filings that BT entities are obligated to file in LATAM are completed and filed on a timely basis.
- Maintain an updated spreadsheet of LATAM filings.
- Maintain an updated spreadsheet of licences and expiration dates, and alert on a timely basis when renewals are due.
- Support the Senior Regulatory Lawyer-Americas with audits, investigations, inquiries conducted by regulators and ministries.
- Monitor the trade press for relevant regulatory news.
- Support the Senior Regulatory Lawyer-Americas in Mexico City in providing counsel on regulations as they impact bids, contracts, product deployments or removals, network deployments or removals, acquisitions or disposals.
- Execute plans to mitigate risks.
- Monitor regulators’ rules, processes and procedures regarding regulatory filings and other obligations relevant to BT’s business and inform line management and other stakeholders of relevant developments.
