We are hiring one Research and Sales Associate. You will spend most of your day on the phone with salon owners. For the first month you learn how they run their business. From 1 December you sell Packyard to them.

What you will do

10 November to 30 November: research

• Make 40 discovery calls a day to US grooming salons.
• Book and run 30-minute interviews with salon owners.
• Ask how they book, get paid and remind clients. Then listen. You are not selling yet.
• Log every call in a Google Sheet with clear tags, in under 10 seconds.
• Share what you hear with the founder each week.

From 1 December: sales

• Call the same kind of salons, now to sell Packyard.
• Use what you learned in November to know what owners care about.
• Keep logging every call the same way.

You must have

• Clear spoken English with a neutral accent. US small business owners decide in the first 5 seconds if they will keep listening. This matters more than anything else on this list.
• 1 to 2 years on the phone with US or Canadian customers. Cold calling, inside sales, customer research or a US call centre all count.
• No fear of 40 dials a day and hearing no. You do not need warm leads to do well.
• The habit of asking a question and then staying quiet. The first month is about listening, not pitching.
• Fast, clean written English. You can tag a call in a Google Sheet in under 10 seconds.
• US working hours. 8am to 6:30pm US Pacific, Monday to Friday. Salons pick up early in the morning and late in the day, so the evening hours are not optional.
• Your own setup. A quiet room, stable internet and a headset.

Nice to have

• You have sold or supported software, booking tools or payment tools.
• You have worked with small businesses such as salons, clinics or restaurants, not large companies.
• You have run customer interviews or user research before.
• You have a pet, or have worked in or near a grooming or vet business.

This role is not for you if

• You have only handled inbound calls or existing accounts.
• You need a word-for-word script and cannot go off it.
• You cannot work past 8pm your local time.
