What You Can Expect

Responsible for oversight of the sales, use and property tax function for all relevant domestic companies.

How You'll Create Impact
  1. Manage Sales & Use and Property Tax Audits, including:
  2. Work across functions within the company to obtain and analyze information, ensuring it is accurate, complete, and aligned with what state taxing authorities request.
  3. Ensure information is provided to state taxing authorities within pre-agreed due dates. If deadlines cannot be met, communicate proactively to inform about delays and negotiate extensions.
  4. Research and resolve issues identified during the audit process, and communicate results to state taxing authorities and upper management as needed.
  5. Develop negotiation strategy and process for settling audits, in coordination with the State & Local Tax Manager and Domestic Tax Director.
  6. Identify and implement process improvements based on material audit adjustments.
  7. Oversee and manage third-party sales and use tax outsourcing, including:
  8. Compile accurate and detailed source data to support the filing of sales and use tax returns.
  9. Review returns prepared by the outsourcing firm.
  10. Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly compliance reports.
  11. Research and resolve issues identified during the return preparation process to ensure accurate filings.
  12. Perform and/or manage reverse use tax audits periodically for all U.S. manufacturing sites.
  13. Manage use tax accruals for all domestic companies, including education and training of relevant personnel to ensure proper accruals.
  14. Maintain the integrity of product taxability status, including tracking and analyzing tax law changes in all jurisdictions, updating the product taxability matrix in Vertex TDM, and responding to internal and external customer inquiries on the taxable nature of Zimmer products.
  15. Administer the Property Tax Compliance process, including:
  16. Prepare annual property tax returns, analyzing fixed asset details to determine proper classification and valuation.
  17. Maintain compliance software.
  18. Track assessments and bills, and reconcile payment requirements.
  19. Manage property tax accruals and reserves.
  20. Track and control property tax notices.
  21. Research and resolve issues to ensure accurate and timely filings.
  22. Support state & local planning or integration projects, including state income tax compliance, as assigned.
What Makes You Stand Out
  1. Experience with income tax for LATAM countries.
  2. Ability to manipulate data efficiently, extract information, and interpret results.
  3. Ability to explain tax-related matters to internal business customers in a way that is easy to understand.
  4. Handling time-sensitive monthly tax compliance tasks.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly with Tax Auditors in a professional manner.
  6. Strong analytical mindset to handle large amounts of tax data.
  7. Experience working in high-visibility roles where internal customer satisfaction is critical.
Your Background
  1. English proficiency is required (B2 or C1).
  2. 3 to 4 years of relevant direct-tax experience.
  3. An undergraduate degree in accounting, business or a related field is required.
  4. Experience with income tax for LATAM countries.
