Web Operations Engineer

Core Requirements:

Role Description:

The team's primary focus is providing global operational support for the infrastructure technologies delivered from within the Web group which include:

  1. Web Server infrastructure (external & internal) - TomEE/Tomcat, Spring Boot, IIS, Apache;
  2. Authentication/authorisation technologies, CMS technology;
  3. Web search – ELK stack.

Skills:

  1. Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of all critical Production Support processes;
  2. Good communication skills and a high standard of written documentation;
  3. Demonstrate an ability to work well as part of a global team, and on their own when required;
  4. Self-motivation, enthusiasm and proven rapid learning capability;
  5. Must have flexible approach to work and working hours;
  6. Ability to work with minimal supervision and on multiple tasks simultaneously;
  7. Excellent time management and prioritisation of work tasks;
  8. Ability to talk at the correct technical level depending on the audience;
  9. Utilisation of own initiative to resolve issues.

Required Knowledge:

Essential to have most of the following:

  1. Strong scripting skills (preferably Python, Unix shell, Perl) to provide infrastructure automation;
  2. Extensive use and Administration level knowledge of Linux (preferably RedHat flavours);
  3. Experience of support of Web technologies (TomEE/Tomcat, proxies, Apache, IIS, content management systems etc.);
  4. Knowledge of some Configuration Management and Devops toolchains (e.g. Ansible, Jenkins, Git).
