Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Engineer – Water, Hydraulics & Drainage to join our Enterprise Capabilities Design Center in Bogotá D.C. The selected candidate will support the analysis, modelling, and design of stormwater, wastewater, and drainage systems for a diverse range of infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling using tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, InfoWorks, and SewerGEMS/StormGEMS, as well as the development of coordinated and constructible engineering designs and documentation. This role requires solid technical and analytical skills, attention to quality and detail, and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and Lead Offices across different regions to deliver high-quality, sustainable, and resilient water infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic analyses and hydraulic modeling for watersheds, channels, and drainage/collection networks using tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, SWMM/InfoWorks, and SewerGEMS/StormGEMS.
  • Develop designs for stormwater drainage systems (e.g., storm sewers, open channels, culverts, detention/retention, water quality controls) and sanitary/wastewater systems (e.g., gravity sewers, pressurized mains, pump stations, appurtenances).
  • Prepare engineering drawings, details, and profiles in Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or MicroStation; support BIM coordination, model federation, and clash detection.
  • Produce engineering calculations, reports, quantity take-offs, and technical specifications that are clear, traceable, and aligned to client and AECOM standards.
  • Integrate sustainability and resilience practices, including LID/SuDS, BMPs, water quality controls, and erosion/sediment control measures, into planning and design.
  • Interpret and apply codes, standards, and design criteria (client-specific and internal) to ensure compliance, quality, constructability, and auditable documentation.
  • Support QA/QC processes, respond to review comments and RFIs, and assist with change management, document control, and versioning best practices.
  • Collaborate with transportation, structural, geotechnical, environmental, utilities, and construction-phase teams to ensure coordinated, constructible solutions.
  • Manage assigned tasks to scope, schedule, and budget, communicating progress and risks proactively and adhering to AECOM’s safety and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary coordination meetings; prepare concise presentations and figures to communicate engineering findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
