This volunteer willassist our partner organization, Fundación ACUA, by helping themdevelop a well-rounded gender approach in both their own work andthat of their partner organizations. If you are ready to make along-lasting difference and empower the Afro-Latino communitiesthat Fundación ACUA serves, then apply now. As a volunteer, youwill: - Provide guidance to Fundación ACUA in the implementation ofa gender policy in collaboration with partners. - Assist andfacilitate training programs for women entrepreneurs, specificallyin Guapi and Timbiqui, as well as other locations outlined in thework plan with Fundación ACUA. Partner -Fundación Activos Culturales Afro (ACUA) The Afro Cultural AssetsFoundation –ACUA- is a non-profit entity that was created as anIFAD program in 2007 and later became a foundation in 2010. ACUApromotes the sustainable empowerment of cultural assets oforganized Afro-descendant communities. ACUA, in co-ownership withAfro-descendant communities, contributes to the promotion ofinnovative income-generating initiatives, the recovery of culturalknowledge and practices, and economic and social inclusion. TheFoundation manages projects in Latin America for the development ofAfro-descendant communities with the main objective of closing thegaps and improving the living conditions of the ruralAfro-descendant population. Fundraising We ask each volunteer,regardless of placement length, to raise $2,000. All volunteersreceive support from Cuso International to help achieve the goalthrough fundraising. If the volunteer chooses not to fundraise oris unable to achieve the fundraising goal, he/she can make aone-time donation or become a monthly donor to support our work.Pre-placement Training and Briefing - Skills and Knowledge forWorking in Development (SKWID) We commit to helping you prepare asbest as possible for your placement. You will have a VolunteeringMobilization Advisor (VMA) to support you through the process andwill participate in pre-placement training as part of yourpreparation. You will also have access to self-directed briefingdocuments, online training, and external resources through thevolunteer portal. This training is designed to maximize yourunderstanding of your placement and culture, help you identify andplan your learning, and help you stay safe and healthy during yourplacement. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse CusoInternational works with poor, vulnerable and marginalized people,mainly women and girls, to eradicate poverty and inequality. Weunderstand the need to uphold and enforce the highest standards ofethical and professional conduct. At Cuso International, we believethat all people, regardless of race, ancestry, place of origin,colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed (religion), sex, age,record of offences, marital status, family status, sexualorientation, gender expression and identity or disability have theright to live lives free of harassment, sexual exploitation andabuse. Cuso International considers all forms of harassment, sexualexploitation and abuse to be incompatible with fundamental beliefin the human dignity of all people, international and nationalagreements and standards, and its core values. Residency and Citizenship During theapplication and pre-placement phases, most Cuso Internationalapplicants are based in Canada, although we also receiveapplications from outside Canada. Regardless of your location, it'scrucial for us to maintain easy and prompt communication with youbetween your application and start dates. We may request yourpassport, need to know your current residence, and be informed ofany travel plans. Leaving your country of residence can impact yourcitizenship status. If you're leaving your residence for aplacement, it is your responsibility to research the implicationswith local immigration authorities. By applying, you accept fullresponsibility for any consequences regarding citizenship,residency, or immigration status. Canadian Permanent Residentsshould make arrangements with immigration authorities beforetravelling to avoid any risks to their residencystatus.
