Job Title

Software Development Engineer - Disruption

About the Area/Department:

Disruption handling aims at managing any unplanned event (weather, strike, or any other cause that grounds planes) in order to limit impacts for both airlines and travelers. Within Airport and Airlines Operations, the Disruption department provides end-to-end products and solutions, allowing airlines to smoothly manage day-to-day disruptions up to massive disruptions impacting the full network, empowering customers to self-rebook and agents to monitor efficiency of the process.

Within this department, we are looking for talented Engineers who will be intervening in the Disruption train, designing, managing the delivery of the features related to disruption products and maintaining the proficient level of quality.

In this role you'll:

Common accountabilities:

  1. Has a working experience and advanced and specialized technical/functional knowledge in own discipline. Understands how own area contributes to the business. Acts as a reference for colleagues with less experience and supports junior team members.
  2. Influences decisions related to own activity, anticipating dependencies and consequences in complex scenarios, contributes to transversal projects, proposes improvements to processes and is accountable for own and team commitments.
  3. Works independently within plan dictated by manager, with some guidance on most complex situations.

Specific accountabilities:

Analyze specifications:

  1. Define user requirements for the development of new (or upgrade of existing) software solutions.
  2. Design systems and code:
  3. Design technical solutions and perform feasibility studies.
  4. Propose viable technical solutions to Product Management and/or users for validation.
  5. Develop software according to Amadeus standards.
  6. Model, design and implement databases.

Test and maintain the software:

  1. Conduct unit, package and performance tests and ensure a level of quality in line with the Amadeus guidelines.
  2. Participate in the validation phase of the product cycle, fine-tuning when necessary to finalize the product.
  3. Support the customer by debugging existing solutions in collaboration with Product Manager or Product Definition Analyst.

Document your work:

  1. Produce software documentation necessary for the application and issue it to the requesting departments.

About the ideal candidate:

As a Software Engineer embedded in an agile feature team, your mission is to design, code, test and maintain the best technical solution and architecture for our disruption products to ensure the smoothest and least stressful experience for travelers impacted by disruption events while guaranteeing a sustainable impact for airlines impacted.

Tooling environment:

  • Main languages: C++ is highly preferred
  • Python, Java, Angular, JavaScript, HTML
  • Software versioning: git, bitbucket
  • IDE: Eclipse, VS Code
  • Testing framework: Robot Framework
  • Database: Oracle, Couchbase, SQL
  • Other: Kafka
