About the position The Green Campus initiative of the Alliance Bioversity International and CIAT is currently seeking a professional in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) who wants to contribute to the research and development efforts. This position’s main objective will be to contribute to the research and application of AI within the context of precision agriculture and remote sensing technologies. The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas, located in the Campus of Palmira, Colombia. Responsibilities Contribute to the support, design, development, and improvement of AI models with diverse applications in smart agriculture, such as crop monitoring, pest detection, and resource management. Collaborate with the IoT team to integrate AI models with sensor networks and data collection devices, creating more complete and effective solutions. Support some AI solutions in agricultural environments, monitoring their performance and constantly working on improving models for higher accuracy and efficiency. Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities in agricultural processes. Prepare monthly management reports highlighting progress and results achieved. Collaborate closely with other researchers, engineers, and stakeholders, ensuring successful implementation of AI solutions in real-world agricultural environments. Other responsibilities will be assigned according to the program needs.

 

Requirements Qualifications and requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data engineering and artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, or related fields. Specialization or training courses in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning or similar. Experience in AI model development, including deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Python). Knowledge of IoT technologies and protocols. Familiarity with agricultural practices and challenges. Intermediate – Advanced English level (oral and written). Competences Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with people in a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary environment. Proper work planning.

 

Benefits Terms of employment
This is a national recruited position placed at a BG06, on a scale of 14 levels, with level 14 being the highest. This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixed-term contract of a one (1) year period, subject to a probation period according to the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
