About the Role

We are searching for a talented Game Designer to join our Pikpok Medellin team and work closely with our New Zealand Team. In this role, you will be working on several kinds of projects such as remasters, remakes, and live operations about our videogames catalog. Your mission will be to collaborate with a great and global team to make our games more fun, enjoyable, engaging, and profitable

You’ll need to be enthusiastic about free-to-play games, flexible, inventive, and reliable. We expect you to create play experiences that create value for our market, we look for a solid understanding of game loops and monetization options and a system thinking capacity to balance the company needs and the player experience.

Also, you’ll need to be a good communicator who embraces experimentation, iteration, and collaboration to make the best possible decisions. We expect you to work closely with other disciplines, showing autonomy and cooperation while being able to take and receive feedback with empathy.

The Game Designer's responsibilities include:
  • Create and modify engaging and well-balanced gameplay experiences that are aligned with the studio vision and the game business model.
  • Refine and document game systems such as resource management, goals, interactions, and progression.
  • Communicate constructively, patiently, enthusiastically, and effectively with a range of people, disciplines, and areas like analytics, marketing, community, and user research.
  • Monitor and analyse data and other work results with a strong drive to find out the why’s and the how’s and to evaluate activities, experiments, and product success.
  • Improve or maintain user engagement through design implementations and/or events.
  • Participate in events to promote products and speak with product external stakeholders.

Requirements

The Game Designer’s required knowledge and experience includes:

  • Professional studies, a completed degree is not required. We are open to all disciplines.
  • Fluent in English (B2+ to C1). You don't need a certificate, but we will conduct an English test during the hiring process.
  • At least one project finished that you should present as part of your portfolio. University and personal projects apply if no others exist.
  • Good understanding of the game development process.
  • Knowledge of tools for prototyping, ideas testing, and communication. Minimum skilled in Google Suite, particularly writing and flowchart tools.
  • Good understanding of design content for project(s), including but not limited to: levels, game mechanics, game systems, limited time events, economy drivers, and monetisation systems.

Other desirable knowledge & experience:
  • Knowledge and desirable experience operating applications after publishing them.
  • Skilled in Unity.
  • Other related experience, such as programming, UX/UI, mentoring, and more - tell us what you bring to the table.
  • Familiar with the Agile framework and philosophy.
