The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC) verifies the implementation of five sections of the 2016 Final Agreement:

Section 1 on comprehensive rural reform;
Section 3.2 on the reintegration of former combatants of FARC-EP in economic, social, and political matters;
Section 3.4 on security guarantees for individuals in the process of reintegration and communities and organizations across the country;
Section 5.1.2 on the restorative sentences imposed by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (SJP);
and Section 6.2 on the Ethnic Chapter of the Final Agreement.

The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia verifies the Temporary National Bilateral Ceasefire, CFBNT, between the Government of Colombia and the Ejército de Liberación Nacional-ELN:

Verifies compliance with the Temporary National Bilateral Ceasefire, CFBNT, between the Government and the ELN.
At the parties' request, it is part of the Monitoring and Verification Mechanism together with the Colombian Episcopal Conference, the Government and the Ejército de Liberación Nacional-ELN.

Within delegated authority, the Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:

Recruitment and Placement:
•Handle vacancy applications, including maintaining candidate files, overseeing file transfers between offices, scheduling interviews, and entering candidate data into the automated system.
•Assist in filling positions by managing reference checks, academic verifications, pre-recruitment formalities, salary calculations, and offer preparations.
•Maintain vacancy announcement records and monitor their status.
•Coordinate travel arrangements, visa processes, and personal effects shipments for selected candidates.
•Prepare agendas and necessary documentation for recruitment-related meetings.
•Process personnel actions and provide guidance on visa matters.

Administration of Entitlements:
•Review and process entitlements and claim requests.
•Maintain Umoja entitlements reference tables.
•Assist in managing data related to conditions of service.

Staff Development and Career Support Training:
•Assist in organizing and conducting training courses and workshops.
•Provide logistical and administrative support to trainers.

General Administrative Support:
•Provide office support services, including drafting correspondence and communications.
•Establish and manage reference files both electronically and in paper form.
•Schedule appointments and meetings, and monitor deadlines.
•Conduct research on HR-related issues and contribute to report preparation.
•Maintain an automated database of HR statistics and generate periodic reports.
•Assist in preparing documentation for distribution to various offices and departments.
•Handle various administrative tasks such as leave recording and procurement requests.
•Offer guidance and training to less experienced staff as needed.
•Perform any other duties as assigned.
•Taking Proactive Action, promptly addressing any financial issues or concerns that arise, taking appropriate corrective actions to resolve them.
•Collaborating with relevant stakeholders, such as finance teams, department heads, and management, to address financial challenges and drive improvement initiatives.

Monitors progress and adjusts plans as necessary, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.

Client Orientation: Views all individuals receiving services as "clients" and strives to understand their perspectives. Establishes and sustains productive partnerships with clients, earning their trust and respect. Identifies clients' needs and provides tailored solutions accordingly. Stays informed about developments within and outside the clients' environment to anticipate issues. Maintains open communication with clients, updating them on project progress and meeting delivery timelines consistently.


human resources management, administrative or business management services or related area. Experience in the UN or other international organizations is highly desirable.
Experience in the application of UN Staff Rules and Regulations in operational environment is desirable, including administration of a broad range of entitlements and benefits or in recruitment.
Experience using ERP systems such Umoja is desirable.

Bogota, Colombia offers excellent living conditions, with all UNVMC Staff renting residential accommodations near the headquarters. These accommodations provide access to level 3 hospitals, restaurants, and welfare facilities. Colombia, as a country, is uniquely diverse, offering an interesting and enriching environment. However, it requires a mature level of cultural awareness from residents. Living comfortably and affordably in Bogota demands more stamina and commitment compared to other places. Flexibility is key, as individuals must be willing to adapt to potentially harsh and hazardous conditions. This may involve physical hardship and limited comfort. Nonetheless, embracing these challenges is essential for those living and working in Bogota.
